*Hello*
I've collected some fabric from my bag making stash for my next makes.
They're not very exciting but hopefully I can do something with them.
They're all washed and ready to go!

I do like the odd magazine and when I saw the mag below with a pattern included
I couldn't pass it by!
Being a beginner it was a great find as it features a whole load of patterns, sewing techniques and interesting articles - this is the June issue.
This is the free pattern that came with the mag but I'm not that keen on the frilly bits.
I'm sure I could just leave the frilly bits out
and I think there are a few pretty classic/easy looking dresses there!

I also picked this pattern up at The Fabric Shop in Melrose from the discount box.
Not that keen on the blouses but I like the skirts with the patch pockets.
I liked the bottom right view with the front pleat and patch pockets and thought it would be a good pattern to have waiting/looking for the right fabric!
Have you come across these patterns?
I'm looking forward to getting stuck in now and hopefully I'll have a few things made up for my next post soon!
Your going to be busy! Plenty to do there. I like the dress pattern but like you I'd leave the frills not being a frilly person myself :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it all can't wait to see what you make x
Thanks :-)
DeleteLooking forward to seeing what you make with your new fabrics and patterns.

Thanks - up til the wee hours last night/this am. :-/
DeleteLove the fabrics you've chosen - looking forward to seeing them sewn up!
ReplyDeleteLove that skirt pattern too - who doesn't love a pocket?!
Hi Justine - thanks :-)
DeleteHi Eilidh, I've just found your blog and thought I'd say hello. I'm new to sewing and am starting with the Miette skirt (hoping to finish this weekend) and then am thinking of trying the Sorbetto top, so it's interesting to see how you've got on with these.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics you're using. I now spend far too much time online looking a lovely fabrics when I should be working.
Vicky
Hi Vicky, lovely to hear from you! Great to hear you are making a Miette skirt. I'm making another one at the moment as I've been wearing my skirt alot! The online instructions are great for both the Miette and the Sorbetto. I know what you mean I spend a lot of time looking and not doing, hence the blog to try and do!! Good luck, hope you let knowingly get on :-)x
DeleteMeant to say - hope you let me know how you get on! Kindle goes a bit daft every now and then!! :-)x
DeleteWell, I had a spot of bother getting the hole for the waist tie to line up (also had trouble with my practice run), but with a seam ripper and a bit of botched sewing I got there. I also had a similar problem to you with a lumpy bit in the waist tie that's a bit of a job to pull through the hole. Overall though I'm really pleased with it and will definitely be using the pattern again.
ReplyDeleteI'm just so excited that I've made something to wear :) Starting off with cushion covers and aprons - as all the books seem to suggest - had no appeal for me.
Hi Vicky well done with your skirt hope you enjoy wearing it! You should also try the Mathilde Blouse there is so much to learn and I felt it helped give me a bit of confidence to try other things. Tilly's instructions take you by the hand. Good luck with your next project - sewing is very addictive! :-) x
